Norfolk & Norwich Archaeological Society

This Society is one of the oldest archaeological societies in the country.  Throughout the whole of its history it has attracted all those interested in the archaeology and history of Norfolk. Membership has included amateur and professional archaeologists, but the vast majority of members are simply those fascinated by the people, buildings and ancient sites in the area in which they live.

The Norfolk Record Office collects and preserves records of historical significance for the county of Norfolk and makes them available to a wide range of people for consultation and study. It is a joint service of the County and District Councils of Norfolk archives.

This is the online version of the Norfolk Historic Environment Record, a database of archaeological sites, finds and buildings in Norfolk.

Faden's Maps (

Andrew Macnair spoke to the society in 2011. Dr Macnair digitally redrew Faden's map of 1797 in 2005 and has undertaken a detailed study of Faden and his map resulting in a publication on the subject.
